NexGen Healthcare, LLC was a passion project started by Dr. Gregory Picou. Dr. Picou has been a leader and innovator in healthcare for over 20 years. Always seeking the next best treatment for his patients, Dr. Picou organically migrated to biologics. NexGen Healthcare, LLC is the natural product of both passion and advanced healthcare methods. Dr. E. M. Bishai, M.D. completed his medical education at University of Cairo KasrAlAiny School of Medicine in Cairo, Egypt and his Psychiatry residency in New York City, followed by a fellowship in Interventional Pain Management at the University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Anesthesiology. He is currently one of a handful of physicians with dual training in interventional pain management and psychiatry with extensive experience in addiction and psychosomatic medicine. Dr. Bishai held a Psychosomatic Medical Director position and became board certified in psychosomatic medicine at Pinnacle Health System and Hershey Medical Center. He also has additional training in orthopedic surgery and is an expert in minimally invasive techniques.
Dr. Bishai’s unmatched expertise on chronic pain management procedures combine his vast experiences in pain management, psychological support, orthopedic training, and essential balance of anesthesia.
Dr. M. Qayum, M.D. completed her medical doctorate program at Louisiana State University Medical School followed by an internship in Internal Medicine and finished her residency with a specialty in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from Mississippi State University. Dr. Qayum is a board-certified physiatrist, a member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, and is a fellow in Anti-Aging, Metabolic, and Functional Medicine. She is also a member of the International Cell Surgical Society and is trained in the use of stem cell therapy, PRP’s and peptides. She began her career in sports and musculoskeletal medicine, where she honed her skills in the use of regenerative techniques and procedures for both pain management and healing of injury.
Dr. Qayum served her Houston community as a Medical Director at a private regenerative medicine facility for over 20 years, and now continues to serve as an expert in the latest and most exclusive regenerative medicine therapies.
Dr. R. K. Ozon, M.D. received his medical degree from Marshall University School of Medicine in 1996, specializing in neurology. He completed his neurology internship at Keiser Foundation Hospital in Los Angeles, CA then went to do his residency in neurology at West Virginia University. Following his residency, he completed a fellowship in neurophysiology at UMMC. Dr. Ozon is an active member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine.
He is certified in WPI ratings and was highly trained at Empire Medical in specific techniques and procedures in regenerative medicine. He has devoted his career to the latest research and procedures that regenerative medicine and neurology has to offer.
Nurse practitioner Vi Chau-Tran completed her Master’s degree in Nursing at Texas Woman’s University in Houston, TX, and her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing at the University of Texas Medical Branch. She began her career as a nurse practitioner at Memorial Hermann at UT Health in the Orthopedics/Sports Medicine department, and then went on to practice and instruct at Baylor College of Medicine where she independently developed and implemented treatment regimens for orthopedic injuries and utilized her extensive training and experience with numerous methods of diagnostic imaging and interpretation for differential diagnoses. She is an expert in unassisted as well as image-guided injections.
Fielding Mercer received both his Bachelor of Science degree and Physician Assistant medical training at the University of Washington. He is board certified by the National Commission On Certification Of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and has practiced medicine in Hawaii since 1986, including 20 years of Emergency Medicine, having worked at both Straub Hospital and The Queen’s Medical Center Emergency Department. Additionally, he has practiced Primary Care Medicine at Kula Hospital, The Maui Medical Group, and at Pali Momi Medical Center. Additional experience working in Occupational Medicine clinics has given him a broad range of experience in treating orthopedic conditions.
Fielding brings his broad range of experience and skills to the patients of NexGen Healthcare LLC.
Over the years he has been an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and the Hawaii Academy of Physician Assistants (HAPA). He was a Board Officer with HAPA for over 10 years and participated for two terms on the Committee for Government Relations and Practice Advancement for the AAPA. Hobbies include sailing, cycling, golf, and photography.
Dr. Gregory K. Picou, D.C.
Upon completing a doctorate program at Parker University in Dallas, TX, Dr. G. K. Picou, D.C furthered his education to become a Diplomate in Multidisciplinary Pain Management and obtained Board Certification in Integrative Medicine in 2013. An innovator, Dr. Picou has patented a procedural system involving vascular catheterization/IV tubing as well as a mechanism to reduce muscular pain. Dr. Picou has served countless communities across the U.S. confronting and preventing personal injuries for more than 25 years.
His life-long passion to improve the quality of life of his patients fueled his dream project, which is now known as NexGen Healthcare, LLC. Dr. Picou is still driven by his passion and oversees the overall well-being and compliancy of the company.
Dr. L. P. Bourgeois III, D.C. completed his doctorate program at TC College in Pasadena, TX, and his training as a Certified Trigenics Therapist. Dr. Bourgeois is highly trained in differential diagnostics and treatments of the shoulders and knees for which he treats many professional athletes. He is also certified in diagnosis of injury of the cervical spine for WPI ratings and serves as an expert witness.
His goal is to serve as many patients as possible by showing them an alternative to medications and surgeries to help them live their most optimal, pain-free lives.
Dr. D. Escalante, D.C. obtained his doctorate degree from TC College in Pasadena, TX and his Bachelor's in Science from Baylor University. Throughout his school years and professional career, he has efficiently upheld numerous leadership positions including Presidency of Sports Council and one he's particularly proud of, leading a team for an affiliated program with a non-profit organization serving victims of domestic and sexual violence. Dr. Escalante has a strong research background determining the efficacy of various treatments for patients with Multiple Sclerosis.
He is a Certified Trigenics Therapist with fortified training on human biomechanics, allowing him to diagnose and treat a wide array of musculoskeletal conditions ranging from sports injuries to chronic disorders.
Dr. J. Fuhrman, D.C. completed his doctorate program with magna cum laude honors at TC College in Pasadena, TX where he was a member of the Omega Psi honors society, and Bachelor of Science degree at University of Houston. Dr. Fuhrman has further education on neurology and sports injuries, and he has treated athletes at all levels including Division I athletes and MLB players.
Dr. Fuhrman is an expert in treatment and rehabilitation of low back, shoulder, and knee disorders ranging from chronic degeneration to acute injury.
Dr. C. H. Son, D.C. completed his doctorate program with magna cum laude honors at TC College in Pasadena, TX where he was a member of the Omega Psi honors society, and Bachelor of Science degree at Pennsylvania State University. He completed his preceptorship in Sports Orthopedics in Clear Lake, TX, and treated Division I athletes and athletics faculty at Rice University in Houston, TX. He has an extensive research background in human biomechanics and was honored First Place at the ACA Rehabilitation Conference in 2016 for his authored research study on maximum vertical jump capacity.
He takes particular interest in functional pain disorders, chronic degenerative disorders, and acute sports injuries.
